Click “Choose File” (or drop the file on the map) and pick your JSON file. To load several files at once, select them together or put them in a zip and load the zip.
If you saved your location history on your phone, you used to be able to view it with Google Maps. Google has since moved Timeline onto your device and removed that view, but you can still export the data to a JSON file (see above). This site lets you load that file and view your historical locations on a map. The file is processed in your browser and is not uploaded anywhere.
After you load a file, the days that have data are marked green in the calendar. Select days in the calendar or in the Days list. To select several days, use the Days list (Ctrl/Cmd-click or Shift-click). You can also filter the list according to the current map view, or show all available days. A dashed red line between point A and point B means there were probably other, unknown points between A and B.
